Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier Set For UFC 254

Hot on the heels of his decision victory over Darren Till last weekend, Robert Whittaker will now fight Jared Cannonier at UFC 254 on October 24th at a destination still to be confirmed.

The win over Till was Whittaker’s first fight back after having KO title loss to Israel Adesanya back in October of last year.

Prior to that Whittaker had been on a nine-fight winning streak that saw him beat the likes of Yoel Romero (twice), Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Derek Brunson and Uriah Hall.

The win over Till ensured that Whittaker retains the No.1 contender spot in the middleweight division and if he can beat Cannonier as well then he could well find himself fighting for the belt again in the near future.

Known as ‘The Killa Gorilla,’ Cannonier has risen to No.3 in the middleweight rankings after making a big impact since moving down to the division in late 2018.

So far, Cannonier has strung together a three-fight winning streak at 185lbs against David Branch, Anderson Silva and most recently Jack Hermansson – all of which came by way of TKO.

Whittaker vs. Cannonier will join a UFC 254 card that will be headlined by lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s next title defense against Justin Gaethje.
