A fight between recent middleweight title challengers Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vettori has been announced for UFC 275 on June 11th at a destination still to be confirmed.

After amassing a three-fight winning streak in 2020 and 2021, former titleholder Whittaker attempted to win back the title from Israel Adesanya last month at UFC 271, but was unsuccessful, losing out by unanimous decision.

That was the No.1 ranked contender Whittaker’s second loss to Adesanya, but it’s worth noting that he remains the only fighter to have beaten the Aussie in the past years, during which time he also racked up 12 victories.

As for the No.3 ranked Vettori, he too has found Adesanya to be his nemesis, having now lost to him on two occasions on the scorecards in the past few years.

Like Whittaker he’s found greater success against much of the rest of the division though, with six wins during that same period of time, including his most recent decision win over Paulo Costa back in October of last year.

Whittaker vs. Vettori joins a UFC 275 card that will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight featuring current champion Glover Teixeira against Jiri Prochazka, while the co-main event finds women’s strawweight champion Valentina Shevchenko back in action against Taila Santos.
