Roman Dolidze Defeats John Allan By Split Decision At UFC On ESPN 19

Roman Dolidze comfortably defeated John Allan tonight at UFC On ESPN 19, though he only received a split decision victory for his efforts.

Round One:

Body kick for Dolidze. He lands another kick off the arm this time. He throws a fast left hand through the guard.

Quick exchange at close range and Dolidze landed a hook in there and then works for a takedown. Allan tries for an armbar, but doesn’t get it.

Dolidze stands up and asks his corner if they want him to submit Allan, then drops down for a leg lock. Allan able to escape the initial attempt, but then he readjusts and tries again. Again Allan manages to escape and gets back upright.

Inside leg kick for Allan. An exchange of punches. Solid jab for Allan as Dolidze was grinning at him. Now a jab for Dolidze.

Dolidze with a left and right hand and Allan returns fire. Body kick for Allan. Now a kick from Dolidze. Another solid body kick for Allan.

Uppercuts from Dolidze. Inside leg kick for him. Now a left hand. There’s a clash of heads and Allan drops to the mat. Dolidze follows him down and tries for another leg lock. It doesn’t pay off and Allan ends up trying for a guillotine choke. Dolidze gets out of that and stands over him landing a few kicks to his grounded opponent as the round comes to a close.

Round Two:

Kicks exchanged to start the second round. Allan lands to the outside of the leg. Allan punches to the body. Dolidze with a jab.

Both men throwing hard here. Allan lands a right hand. Head kick attempt from Dolidze, but it’s blocked. Dolidze in on a takedown in the center of the Octagon and moves straight to side control.

Back into half-guard now. Hard elbow from Dolidze. A hook grazes his opponent’s head. Now a short series of punches.

Allan tries for a guillotine choke, but Dolidze gets into side control. Allan gives up on the choke and brings him back to half-guard.

Left hands for Dolidze. A short elbow lands. Dolidze drops back for another leg lock attempt and yet again it doesn’t work out, which lets Allan get back to his feet and try to get some offense going in the final seconds of the round.

Round Three:

Body kick for Dolidze and punches behind it. Now a low inside leg kick. Right hand for Allan. jab from Dolidze. Outside low kick for Allan. He lands that again.

Grazing right hook from Allan. Body kick for Dolidze. Jab for Allan. Superman punch from Dolidze. Leg kick from Allan. Dolidze in on a single leg takedown but it gets stufffed. Allan lands a good punch and that definitely got Dolidze’s attention.

Now Allan surprises Dolidze by taking him down. It doesn’t last long though before Dolidze works back up to his feet and then takes him down instead. Dolidze back to working from half-guard landing a little ground and pound.

Body body head combo’s for Dolidze in the final seconds of the final round.

Decision:

No doubt about the winner here, with Dolidze’s wrestling being the biggest difference between the two inbetween closer striking exchanges. However, one judge clearly didn’t know what he was watching and saw the fight in Allan’s favor, which leads to Dolidze only getting a split decision victory (28-29, 30-27, 29-28).
