Tyron Woodley Circles UFC 227 For Next 170lb Title Defense

UFC welterewight champion Tyron Woodley is moving closer to making his return to the Octagon and has now named the event he’d like to make the next defense of his title at.

Woodley has been out of action in 2018 so far after undergoing shoulder surgery at the tail-end of last year, but after months of rehab it is now believed to have fully healed.

As a result, MMAfighting’s Ariel Helwani reports that Woodley has now targeted the UFC 227 event in Los Angeles on August 4th for his return to action, an event that already has one major title fight on-board, with bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw heading into a rematch with his rival Cody Garbrandt.

Woodley’s last fight came back in July of last year when he defeated Demian Maia by unanimous decision to successfully defend his 170lb title for the third time.

in total he’s now on a six-fight winning streak, having also beaten the likes of Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Robbie Lawler, Kelvin Gastelum and Dong Hyun Kim along the way.

Now it looks like Woodley will be defending his belt against the winner of UFC 225’s Rafael dos Anjos Vs Colby Covington interim title fight, which takes place early next month in Chicago.
