UFC 237 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 237 event in Brazil the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main event strawweight title clash between Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas.

The champion ‘Thug’ Rose looked terrific in the opening round as she began picking Andrade apart with the jab on the outside and then introduced heavier punches behind it, quickly bloodying the challengers left eye.

However, Andrade didn’t become discouraged by her lack of success in the stand-up department and in the second round she stunned Namajunas by picking her up into the air and slamming her onto her head, leading to a highlight-reel knockout victory to claim the title.

So impressive was the finish that Andrade also scooped up an additional ‘Performance Of The Night’ award into the bargain, meaning she earned a total of $100,000 in bonus money on the night.

Also earning a performance bonus was Warlley Alves, who got the better of Sergio Moraes for most of their fight, but then put an exclamation mark on it when he knocked him out with an uppercut late in the final round.
