Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 56 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a preliminary card scrap between Trey Waters and Billy Goff that saw both men throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other in a wild fight that left them both exhausted long before the final bell, yet still refusing to give up. In the end it was Waters who emerged with a unanimous decision victory, but both go home with an extra $50,000 for their efforts.
One of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses went to Carlos Ulberg, who made short work of Alonzo Menifield, sidestepping his blitzing attack at the opening bell, then going on the offensive himself, knocking him down momentarily with a hook, then floored him again quickly afterwards with more hooks for a 12 second knockout finish.
Also earning a performance bonus was Diego Ferreira, who had to weather an early storm from the aggressive Mateusz Rebecki in the opening round, but then showed that at 39-years-old father time hasn’t caught up to him yet by schooling his tiring opponent in the final two rounds with sharp striking and very slick grappling to win by unanimous decision.
