Former teammates turned bitter rivals Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillshaw feature as the team coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 25: Redemption, and judging by this trailer things got heated between the two on-set.
The end of the trailer for the show, which begins in April on FOX Sports 1, show Garbrandt grabbing TJ Dillashaw by the throat, though it’s not clear what happens next.
This wouldn’t be the first time that team coaches have got physical on the show, with the most famous example being when Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen briefly fought on the set of TUF: Brazil 3.
The rivalry between Garbrandt and Dillashaw should help spice up this season, which already has an interesting twist in that it features a cast of former UFC fighters like Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson, Junie Browning, Jesse Taylor, Ramsey Nijem, Seth Baczynski, who are all battling to make their way back to the Octagon.
This is the first time the UFC have gone with this ‘comeback’ concept since The Ultimate Fighter Season 4, which saw Matt Serra emerge victorious in the final against Chris Lytle, before infamously going on to defeat the welterweight champion at the time, Georges St-Pierre.
There won’t be a title on the line for the winner this time around, but current bantamweight champion Garbrandt will attempt to defend his title against Dillashaw at some point following the show’s conclusion.
