Despite an ongoing rivalry between them, bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley made an appearance on Henry Cejudo’s podcast with co-host Kamaru Usman yesterday, but it didn’t last long.
“Boys, you guys know that I’m a very, very busy man. I’ll keep this short,” O’Malley said at the start of the latest episode of the ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast. “I came here for two reasons. One, praise you Kamaru. You’re an absolute legend, and two, Henry, how did you let Aljo [Aljamain Sterling] take you down so easy?”
O’Malley then gave a villainous laugh, said, “You’re welcome,” and abruptly unplugged from the interview.
“Hey, he got us Kamaru,” former flyweight and bantamweight champ Cejudo said afterwards. “He didn’t just do that to me. He did that to us. He’s trolling us. He came on here just to do that.”
Cejudo welcomed the continuation of their rivalry however, as he believes that a fight between himself and O’Malley could be just around the corner.
“Once he loses to Merab, because I do believe he’s going to lose to Merab, the next fight that’s up is me and him. The only dude that’s really left in the whole division is myself. The next best thing is going to be me .”
