At just 18-years-old, the UFC’s newest recruit from the Contender Series, Raul Rosas Jr is set to go into the record books as the youngest ever fighter in the promotion when he takes on Jay Perrin at UFC 282 on December 10th in Las Vegas.
Rosas Jr had already clocked up five wins in UWC Mexico before landing his opportunity to compete on the Contender Series against Mando Gutierrez in September, while he was only 17-years-old.
Rosas Jr wowed those watching that night by dominating his opponent with a skill-set that seemed remarkably well honed for his age on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
Now Rosas Jr, who turned 18 on October 8th will break a record simply by stepping into the Octagon at UFC 282, becoming youngest person ever to fight in the Octagon – a record that up until now has been held by Joe Lauzon’s younger brother Dan Lauzon, who was 18 years and 198 days old when he made his debut against Jens Pulver back in 2006.
The youngster will be going up against the 29-year-old Perrin at UFC 282, who has so far gone winless in his first two Octagon outings, losing by unanimous decision to Mario Bautista and Qileng Aori.
A former Contender Series fighter himself, Perrin holds an overall career record of 10-6.
