Former two-time UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas ended the year by agreeing to a grappling match with fellow UFC fighter Gillian Robertson at the Fury Pro Grappling 6 event, which aired live on Fight Pass last night, but things didn’t go her way.
The 27-year-old Robertson holds the record for the most submission wins in women’s UFC history (6) and she showed why in this match as she quickly took Namajunas down and got to her back before sinking in a rear-naked choke that forced Namajunas to tap out just 65 seconds into the main event of the card.
That was a great way to end the year for Robertson, who had gone 1-1 in the Octagon in 2022 and has won two of her last five fights, but it’s undoubtedly a disappointing way to close out the last 12 months for Namajunas after having also lost the 115lb title by split decision to Carla Esparza back in May.
Check out all the Fury 6 Pro Grappling 6 results below, which saw numerous other UFC fighters competing, including Chase Hooper beating Clay Guida with a calf slicer in the co-main event.
