Viviane Araujo has a new fight and a new opponent after Casey O’Neill withdrew from their previously scheduled UFC 293 fight on September 9th in Sydney, Australia.
Instead, the 36-year-old Araujo will now be going up against Jennifer Maia at an upcoming UFC Fight Night event on October 14th in Las Vegas.
Araujo is currently ranked No.10 in the women’s flyweight division, but is coming off back-to-back losses in the past year, having lost out on the scorecards to both Alexa Grasso and Amanda Ribas.
As for the 34-year-old Maia, she actually broke Casey O’Neill’s undefeated record in her last Octagon appearance via a unanimous decision victory. That was Maia’s second win in a row, having also beaten Maryna Moroz in November of last year, leaving her ranked No.9 in the division.
Araujo vs. Maia joins a UFC Fight Night card that will also include a featherweight between Edson Barboza and Sodiq Yusuff.
