Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 229 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion four ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses were dished out, and as expected Bobby Green took home one of them after he took just 33 seconds to dismantle Grant Dawson’s nine-fight unbeaten run in the UFC, flooring him with a left hand and following up with ground-and-pound to seal an against-the-odds KO victory.
Co-main event winner Joe Pyfer also pocketed a performance bonus after he initially found some success on the feet against Abdul Razak Alhassan in the opening round, but then after absorbing some big leg kicks in the second he switched things up by landing a big takedown and choking out his opponent with an arm-triangle submission.
Drew Dober was another main card bonus winner after his first round finish against Ricky Glenn. Dober was able to find the target early and often with his heavy-handed punches, dropping his shaken opponent twice before finishing up with thumping ground-and-pound to ensure a TKO stoppage at the 2.36min mark.
Meanwhile, in the prelims Nate Maness secured a performance bonus after he was able to navigate past Mateus Mendonca’s leg lock submission attempts and blast him with big punches to the head until the ref stepped in, handing him a TKO victory 20 seconds before the end of the opening round.
