Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has announced that he’s successfully undergone surgery on his right shoulder, but it seems that he’ll now be out of action for longer than expected as he needs work done to his left shoulder too.
“Yesterday I had surgery, one shoulder is done,” Blachowicz said on Instagram Stories. “I’m back to life, but – anyway, they need to do this one, but they cannot do this at the same time because it was so much on this one. So, they fixed this one, and we need another surgery for this one. So, it is what it is. It’s going to be a longer break, but what can I do? I have to accept it and come back after full recovery. Happy Christmas to us old men.”
Blachowicz had been scheduled to rematch Aleksander Rakic at UFC 297 in January before being forced to withdraw due to his shoulder issues, leaving his opponent to be rebooked against Jiri Prochazka instead at UFC 300 in April.
At this stage Blachowicz hasn’t given an indication of when he’s likely to undergo his second shoulder surgery or how long it’s likely to be before he is finally able to return to action.
