Alexander Volkanovski had a viral hit last year when he sent himself up with an ‘old-man Volk’ skit, and now he’s done it again by poking fun at his career while pretending to be a construction worker.
Titled “there’s always that one bloke…” the video sees Volkanovski trying to convince some building trade workers that he was once a famous UFC fighter, but they don’t believe his tall tales.
At the time of writing Volkanovski’s video has over 9 million views on Instagram, 5 million+ views on Tiktok and over 2 million on Twitter, proving that he’s become a master of social media along with being a revered star in the Octagon.

Jokes aside it’s not been an easy time for the 35-year-old Volkanovski recently, having suffered back-to-back KO losses against Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria, the latter of which saw him lose his featherweight title, which he had successfully defended five times.
Due to those tough defeats Volkanovski has been advised to take an extended break before returning to action, but he has made it known he’s eager to rematch Ilia Topuria next in an attempt to reclaim his title.
However, Max Holloway’s show-stealing last-second KO win over Justin Gaethje to win the BMF title at UFC 300 appears to have now put him in pole-position to fight Topuria next.
At this stage it’s not clear whether Volkanovski’s intention would be to sit out and wait to fight the winner of that match-up, or if he has other plans in the mean time.
