A welterweight fight between Gilbert Burns and Sean Brady has been booked as the main event for UFC Fight Night 243 at the Apex facility in Las Vegas on September 7th.
The 37-year-old Burns heads into the fight having lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his 29-fight career.
In May of last year he lost out to Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision, while in March of this year he appeared to have the upper-hand against Jack Della Maddalena, only to then suffer a third round KO defeat.
However, before that Burns had registered victories over Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal and as such he is still ranked No.6 in the 170lb division heading into this fight.
As for the 31-year-old Brady, he held a perfect 15-0 record not so long ago, but that long unbeaten streak was broken by Belal Muhammad via TKO. He’s since bounced back with a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum though and is ranked just a couple of places below Burns at No.8.
Burns vs. Brady headlines a UFC Fight Night 243 event at the UFC’s own Apex facility that only has one other fight attached to it so far, with Calvin Kattar set to fight Kyle Nelson.
