Julian Erosa managed to sink in a fight-ending submission deep into the first round of his fight with Christian Rodriguez tonight at UFC On ESPN 59.

Round One:

Right hand for Rodriguez to start. He presses forward and lands a right hand. He lands again.

Leg kick from Erosa. jab for Rodriguez. Erosa threatens with an uppercut.

Aggressive start from Rodriguez as he lands down the pipe again. In close they exchange blows and Rodriguez loses his mouthpiece but is handed it back by the ref.

Back to it they go and Erosa lands a good punch. Front kick to the face from Erosa. Rodriguez tries a head kick but it’s blocked.

Push kick from Erosa. Three grazing punches from Rodriguez. Jab for Erosa. Nice step-in elbow from Erosa. He presses forward but Rodriguez fires back. Overhand from Rodriguez.

Left hook for Rodriguez. Jab for Erosa. Another jab lands and Rodriguez responds with a body kick. Erosa uses that to work a takedown though and quickly works to the back with the body triangle locked in.

Rodriguez tries to turn and doesn’t quite shake off Erosa at first, but keeps going and does manage to get on top.

However Erosa manages to a lock in a guillotine choke from his back and closes up his guard tight, and Rodriguez is forced to tap out with just 11 seconds of the first round remaining!
