Grant Dawson earned a convincing 2nd round TKO victory over Rafa Garcia tonight at UFC Fight Night 244 after taking his opponent down and bloodying him up with ground-and-pound elbows.
Round One:
Front kick attempt upstairs from Dawson to start. A couple of body punches from Garcia. Dawson misses with a step-in knee to the body.
Right hand from Garcia. Dawson steps in with a knee again but gets caught by a punch and backs off. High kick attempt from Dawson.
Dawson in on a takedown now, but Garcia tries to defend while punching. Dawson gets him down but Garcia pops straight back up while moving over to the cage. Dawson stays clinched up though and then brings him down again.
This time Dawson keeps Garcia on is back and settles into his guard. A couple of punches and then elbows from Dawson.
Dawson moves into half-guard. Another couple of punches and then an elbow for him. Two more elbows as he tries to pass again, but Garcia gets in his butterfly guard. Dawson passes to half-guard again.
Garcia works back to full guard. Dawson postures up and lands a few punches. Final seconds of the round and Dawson stands and tries to drop down a few more strikes.
Round Two:
Front kick to the body from Dawson. Now a high kick attempt. He lands a side kick to the body. He punches into range and then grabs a single-leg, then lands the takedown in the center of the Octagon.
Dawson with ground-and-pound elbows and Garcia is suddenly bleeding significantly from his forehead and starts to give up his back.
Garcia now trapped between mount and back mount as Dawson reigns down more elbows until the ref steps in to end the fight, handing Dawson a dominant TKO victory at 1.42mins of Rd2!
