Matt Riddle appeared to talk his way into a fight with Dan Hardy following his victory at UFC 149 on Saturday night after going on a rant at the post-fight press conference about a grudge he still holds against a UK fan who spat at him when he fought in Manchester, England back in 2009.
After listening to his tale of woe UFC president Dana White said he’d give him the fight he wanted against Hardy, but it appears that ‘The Outlaw’ himself isn’t as keen on the idea.
“Why the hell would I fight Riddle?” Hardy asked aloud on Twitter. “There is no value in it for me and I’d be forced to look at him more than I have to now.”
In terms of their profile Hardy is certainly several steps up the ladder in comparison to Riddle, but to be fair, the UK fighter has only just pulled himself out of a four-fight losing streak so he doesn’t have a great deal of bargaining power right now.
It looks as if Hardy will get his way this time however as he’s already scheduled to fight Amir Sadollah at ‘UFC On Fuel TV 5’ in his native Nottingham, England on September 29th.
