Chael Sonnen is ignoring his currently scheduled opponent Forrest Griffin and instead is continuing to target the UFC’s current light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones with what’s become a rather one-sided war of words.
“The toughest fight you’ve had at 205 was the chump who snatched the old ladies purse while you were playing on the swings at the park,” Sonnen declared on Saturday.
When Jones failed to respond to his latest jibe, Sonnen unleashed a new twist on the them by impersonating Jon Jones in a series of fake comments.
“RT @jonnybones: Been watching tape on @sonnench. I’d rather relinquish my title and run away to HW than fight that man. #P4P #GOAT.”
“RT @jonnybones: @sonnench Why fight you? It’s a lose-lose situation for me. I lose the fight and I lose my title.”
“RT @jonnybones: Still growing in my career and in life and if I’ve learned one thing, it’s DON’T F@&K with @sonnench”
Jones, who’s a little under two weeks away from his latest title defense against Dan Henderson at UFC 151, has so far ignored these latest comments, but I have a funny feeling that’s not going to deter Sonnen.
