The UFC have announced plans to return to Brazil on May 18th for ‘UFC On FX 8’ and they’re bringing two major middleweight fights with them.
The event will be the landing spot for the previously announced Vitor Belfort Vs Luke Rockhold fight which will serve as the evening’s main event.
Meanwhile, former Strikeforce 185lb champion Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza will take on one of the division’s fast rising contenders Costa Philippou in what’s expected to serve as the co-main event.
‘Jacare’ put together an impressive 7-1 record during his time in the Strikeforce promotion with his only loss coming to the aforementioned Rockhold, and as such he slots straight into the upper reaches of the UFC’s 185lb ranks.
In Philippou he faces one of the division’s in-form fighters, having strung together a five fight winning streak in the Octagon over the past year and a half.
The event will see the UFC visit a new territory in Brazil, with Santa Catarina in the southern reaches of the country being the destination this time around, following on from previous visits to Rio De Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo.
