A flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga has been scrapped from the TUF 17 Finale after the champion picked up an injury, and a new headliner has now been set for the April 13th show.
A featherweight clash between Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen will now take main event duties at the event in Las Vegas.
That’s a good match-up, but a slightly surprising one given that Faber and Jorgensen are friends who’ve also trained together in the past.
“Me n @UrijahFaber gonna putting on damn show at @ufc tuf finale live,” Jorgensen stated on Twitter after the fight was made official. “Crazy I wouldn’t be fighting if he hasn’t talked me into in college!”
“2 buds punching each other! :) . Weird,” Faber replied.
Faber picked up his latest win just a few days ago in impressive fashion at UFC 157, submitting Ivan Menjivar in the first round, while Jorgensen claimed both ‘Fight Of The Night’ and ‘Submission Of The Night’ after his win over John Albert in December.
As yet there’s no indication on the extent of the injury that’s kept ‘Mighty Mouse’ out of his title fight, but presumably his fight with Moraga will be pushed back to later date unless the champion is going to be out long-term.
