Myles Jury is one of the UFC Lightweight division’s dark horse prospects, with an undefeated MMA record of 12-0. Three of those wins come in the UFC, with his last victory being a KO of Ramsey Nijem back in April.
‘The Fury’, as he is better known, is now slated to fight fellow TUF alumni Mike Ricci on the undercard of UFC 165 in September. Should Jury win that fight, it will be his fourth in the UFC, which will likely result in a step up in competition in his subsequent fight.
Jury took to the Underground forum to state his desire for his upcoming fight to be promoted to the main card, which will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title match between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.
“I was hoping my fight with Ricci would make PPV, but it appears I got moved down to FX,” he wrote. “If you guys would like to see this fight, let the UFC/Dana know on twitter, facebook and as many ways that you can.”
The card is likely to get a fair share of viewers, as another title fight, an interim Bantamweight championship bout between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland is set to be the card’s co-main event. The card’s potential popularity could help make The Fury a man to watch in the Lightweight division should he impressively beat Ricci and keep his undefeated record.
While a potential criticism of Jury’s push may be that he and Ricci are not yet big enough names for a main card spot, Jury pointed out Ricci’s recent history on a Pay-Per-View main card.
“Ricci’s already won on a PPV card and I don’t feel like I’m asking for something I haven’t earned. It’d make sense to be the opener to set the pace for the night,” Jury wrote.
