The first round in this fight was close on the feet, but Tibau also scored a takedown late in the round. In the second Tibau really started to bully Varner on the mat and beat him up on top for much of the round. In the third Varner knew he needed to do something big and he started to gain the upper-hand in the striking and landed some solid shots before then taking down the tiring Tibau. He unleashed some good ground and pound and clearly won the round, but it wasn’t quite enough to win him the fight in the judges eyes.

Tim Elliott defeats Louis Gaudinot by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26 x2)

Elliott dominated this fight, keeping a high work rate throughout and using his size and strength to his advantage. His best moments came on the mat where he was able to deliver some relentless ground and pound and never gave Gaudinot an opportunity to gain a foothold in the fight.

Hyun Gyu Lim defeats Pascal Krauss by TKO at 3.58mins of Rd1

These two were meeting toe-to-toe and unleashing big blows from the opening bell. It seemed only a matter of time before someone got rocked, and indeed that proved to be the case as Krauss got caught with a right hand to the forehead from Lim that after a slight delayed reaction turned his legs to jelly and he collapsed to the canvas. He got back up, but it was clear he still wasn’t recovered and his legs gave out under him again soone afterwards. Krauss is a tough customer and got upright once again and was doing his best to fire back. He was still dazed though and when Lim rushed in with a big knee to the face it immediately floored him again and that was a wrap. Glad that one didn’t go on any longer, Krauss was badly rocked there.

Chico Camus defeats Kyung Ho Kang by unanimous decision (29-28 x2, 30-27)

This turned out to be a pretty interesting fight. Kang looked substantially bigger, taller and stronger than Camus and used that to his advantage in the opening round by taking him down and keeping him there. Camus was very active from his back though and was able to avoid being hurt too badly. In the second Kang again had him on the mat and looked to be in control, but with two minutes to go Camus was able to get on top himself and took full advantage of the opportunity, being far more active than his opponent had been, landing some solid ground and pound and even threatening with a rear-naked choke at one point. All to play for in the third then and Camus was landing some nice punches on the feet that rocked Kang’s head back, but was then taken down. Kang was working methodically again on top and looked content to take this fight to the judges. However, in the dying seconds of the fight while stood over Camus he was got by a perfectly placed upkick that dropped him back down to the mat. Camus got on top with just 10 seconds to go and started hammering down ground and pound strikes on his still dazed opponent. If the fight had gone on any longer it’d probably have been stopped, but as it was Camus had done enough to get the decision win in the judges eyes (not sure how one managed to score it 30-27 for him though).

Soa Palelei defeats Nikita Krylov by TKO at 1.34mins of Rd3

This turned out to be a bit of a sloppy heavyweight fight with both men gassing out fairly quickly. Palelei had taken the fight to the mat early in the first, but found the going tough as Krylov showed off a very flexible defensive guard from his back forcing him to work harder than he would have liked. Palelei already looked to be tiring by the latter stages of the first round and then in-between rounds he complained of hurt ribs. Nevertheless he got back off his stool for the second round and took Krylov down again. Krylov again proved crafty from his back and eventually managed to get back to his feet. With Palelei running on empty Krylov had his best spell of the fight late in the second round, unleashing a prolonged assault up against the cage, but he too was tiring and couldn’t find the big shots to put Palelei down. Onto the third round and the two men looked dead on their feet, but started swinging anyway and a big right hand connected from Palelei that wobbled Krylov, leaving him desperately launching into the clinch while he regained his bearings. The blow appeared to have really taken it’s toll on him though as he didn’t seem to be able to recover fully and sank to his knees half-heartedly looking for takedown. Palelei seized the moment to get on top on the mat and mustered the strength to unleash a barrage of ground and pound which Krylov made no effort to defend and that resulted in the TKO stoppage.

Al Iaquinta defeats Ryan Couture by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

iaquinta bossed this fight from start to finish with his superior striking, landing with heavy hands throughout all three rounds while also managing to land a couple of well-timed takedowns. Couture showed his toughness by hanging in there for the full 15 minutes and threw some nice kicks at times, but was unable to get his ground game going and never looked like turning the tide.

Magnus Cedenblad defeats Jared Hamman by submission (guillotine choke) at 0.57mins of Rd1

Wow, quick finish to start off the evening’s entertainment. In the opening minute Hamman pressed forward with his head down giving Cedenblad the opportunity to wrap up a guillotine choke and dropped back with it, slickly rolling into full mount as they hit the mat. Hamman couldn’t escape and was forced to tap.
