Rousimar Palhares made a big impression in his welterweight debut tonight at UFC Fight Night 29, tapping out Mike Pierce in a little over half a minute of fighting.
Round One
Pierce comes in aggressively to start this one off, reeling off punches and ducking in for a takedown, but as they drop Palhares is already hunting for one of his infamous leg locks.
They get back to their feet, but only momentarily as Palhares drops down again while grabbing ahold of one of Pierce’s legs.
He transitions to an ankle lock and Pierce taps frantically. Palhares is up to his old tricks though and doesn’t immediately let go even when the referee make it clear the fight is over, cranking the submission a few seconds longer than was neccessary.
Not very sportsmanlike, and it’ll be interesting to see if he gets into any trouble for it, but that aside, undoubtedly an impressive win for Palhares in just 31 seconds.
