Andrei Arlovski finally showed signs of getting back to his old self tonight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 51 as he dropped Antonio Silva with strikes and then knocked him out with hammerfist strikes mid-way through the opening round.
Round One:
The main event of the evening is underway in Brazil. Silva with his hands held high to start. Arlovski wades in with a few body shots.
Arlovski with a solid right hand as he moves in again. Cautious stuff from both men though. Arlovski steps in with a body shot and then back out again.
In and out again with strikes by Arlovski. Another right hand for him. Silva plodding forward, but so far being hestitant to really let his hands go. He does unleasha few kicks though.
Arlovski working to the body again. He comes in for more and Silva does catch him with a punch that backs him off.
Arlovski again the first one to get off with strikes and this time it really pays off as he lands a big right hand to the chin and then another behind it that floors Silva.
‘The Pitbull’ follows him down and lands a few hard hammerfist strikes and that KO’s Silva completely!
Big win for Arlovski – perhaps his most impressive and significant since KO’ing Roy Nelson in the EliteXC cage all the way back in 2008.
