Miguel Torres KO’d In 46 Seconds By Desmond Green At TFC 31

Former UFC and WEC fighter Miguel Torres career hit another stumbling block last night after he was knocked out just 46 seconds into his Titan FC 31 headlining fight with Desmond Green on CBS Sports.

Sporting a 12-3 record heading into the bout, Green appeared to be getting the better of the striking from the start against Torres and rocked him with a big knee to the head followed up by uppercuts that sent him to the canvas.

The third KO loss of his career ended a three-fight winning streak for Torres on the regional circuit in 2014.

“Sorry I let everyone down, my opponent was well prepared and had a heavy knee,” Torres wrote on Twitter afterwards. “Will be back in the gym on Monday. Congrats to him and his team.”

Torres is a former WEC bantamweight champion who back in early 2009 held a formidable 37-1 career record.

However, he’s hit upon tougher times since then, starting with the loss of his title to Brian Bowles by KO in August of that year, followed by a submission defeat against Joseph Benavidez.

He made his way to the UFC hoping to rediscover his old form, but was only able to produce a 2-2 record, while he landed himself in trouble on a couple of occasions with controversial twitter posts that appeared to pave the way for an early release from the promotion.

Then picked up by the World Series Of Fighting promotion he continued his surprising decline with two losses in a row last year which had left him needing to rebuild his career from scratch this year.

Meanwhile, after his big win Green is set to be lined up with another former UFC fighter Steven Siler in his next fight for the TFC promotion.
