King Mo Now Set To Face Joe Vedepo At Bellator 131

Bellator 131’s fight card is once again complete with the news that Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal will now fight Joe Vedepo on the main card of the show.

Lawal had originally been expecting to face Tom DeBlass, but he pulled out of the event due to a laceration to his head yesterday, so now Vedepo steps in on a couple of weeks notice to fight the former Strikeforce champ.

Vedepo, who picked up two losses in the UFC a few years ago, has been plying his trade in the Bellator cage for some time now and after a rocky start that saw him loss three of his first four bouts he’s managed to reverse his fortunes and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak for an overall 17-8 career record.

Potentially ‘King Mo’ could be his toughest challenge to date, though Lawal has struggled to find consistency in the cage in the past year, alternating between wins and losses.

However, his defeats have came against top competition by Bellator’s standards in Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and current 205lb champ Emanuel Newton, while he’s come out on top against his other opponents leaving him with a 5-3 record in the promotion so far, 13-4 (1nc) for his career overall.

Bellator 131 takes place on Saturday, November 15th on Spike TV with a main event featuring Tito Ortiz Vs Stephan Bonnar, while there’s lightweight title action in the co-main event as Will Brooks rematches Michael Chandler.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
