GSP Looks Huge In New Training Footage

New training footage has emerged of Georges St.Pierre working on his boxing skills with Tristar trainer Firas Zahabi as the former UFC welterweight kingpin dusts off the cobwebs following a lengthy spell of rehab following ACL surgery earlier this year.

The most notable thing about the footage is how big St.Pierre looks compared to the last time we saw him in the Octagon. The Canadian had revealed in an interview back in June that he’d packed on 10lbs of muscle to his upper body as a result of the strength training he’s undertaken and it certainly shows.

The 33 year-old is now believed to weigh in the region of 200lbs which could lead to speculation that he’s targeting a move to middleweight, but he’s stated that if he does return to the Octagon it will still be at 170lbs.

It’s still an ‘if’ at this stage though as GSP has yet to make a decision on whether he will come back after vacating his belt last year and on Chael Sonnen’s podcast last week he insisted that the fact that he’s now back in training shouldn’t be taken as a sign that he’s coming back – it’s just how he likes to spend his time.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
