UFC 184 is set for it’s very own clash of the titans when two of the middleweight division’s best, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and Yoel Romero meet in the Octagon.
‘Jacare’ has been a dominant force at 185lbs since joining the UFC last year, compiling a four-fight winning streak to date.
Along the way he’s taken out Chris Camozzi, Yushin Okami, Francis Carmont, and most recently Gegard Mousasi who he stopped via submission back in September to earn a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus and claim the No.3 contender spot in the official rankings.
Romero has also been waging war in the 185lb ranks, producing a five fight winning streak in the Octagon, finishing all but one of those inside the distance.
His most notable opponents have come in his last two outings, earning a decision win against Brad Tavares before claiming ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors with a third round TKO stoppage against Tim Kennedy. That’s pushed him up to No.6 on the rankings and a win over ‘Jacare’ would put the ‘Soldier Of God’ into title contention.
If all the fighters stay injury free then UFC 184 is shaping up to be a great card with a middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfor headlining the pay-per-view show, while Ronda Rousey defends her bantamweight title against Cat Zingano in the co-main event.
With ‘Jacare’ Vs Romero now on-board and Frank Mir Vs Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva also announced yesterday, that’s a strong main card line-up for the L.A show.
