Matt Brown Vs Tarec Saffiedine Headlines UFC Fight Night 60

Dana White announced at yesterday’s UFC press conference that a welterweight clash between Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine will headline UFC Fight Night 60 in Colorado on February 14th.

The fight had originally been rumored for the UFC’s stadium show in Sweden at UFC On FOX 14 in January which will be headlined by Alexander Gustafsson Vs Anthony Johnson.

Brown is coming off a loss to Robbie Lawler, his first since an impressive seven fight winning streak that took him to the brink of a title shot – something that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago when he was struggling to get a win inside the Octagon.

‘The Immortal’ is still ranked No.5 in the division, so a win puts him right back in the mix, whereas a loss could signify that his time in the sun is coming to an end.

In Saffiedine he faces Strikeforce’s last ever welterweight champion. So far he’s experienced mixed fortunes since joining the UFC though, first having his debut delayed through injury, then going 1-1 with a victory over Hyun Gyu Lim before falling to a third round TKO loss against Rory MacDonald last month.

Saffiedine currently resides at No.9 in the division, so he needs this win to maintain and solidify his spot in the welterweight top 10.

A fight between Max Holloway and Cole Miller has also been announced for the UFC Fight Night 60 event, while Brandon Thatch Vs Stephen Thompson is another fun fight to look out for on the Colorado card.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
