Bellator 133 took place last night on Spike TV and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening former middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko got back to winning ways in style with one of his trademark spinning back-fists connecting early in the second round against Melvin Manhoef.
There was a delayed reaction as Manhoef first wobbled backwards trying to stay upright, but his legs wouldn’t co-operate and he toppled to the mat. Shlemenko dropped down on him with a vicious right hand and a left hook to seal the KO victory.
Between his kickboxing and MMA career’s Manhoef has now been clean knocked out a frightening number of times, including twice in three months in the Bellator promotion, and really needs to be hanging up his gloves for good now.
In the co-main event former featherweight champion Pat Curran suffered his third defeat in four fights again Daniel Weichel. The judges were split on who won, but Weichel did appear to have the better of the action for much of the fight and deserved his victory.
Julia Budd had absolutely no trouble grinding out a decisive unanimous decision win on the mat against the out-of-her-depth Gabrielle Holloway, but it wasn’t fun to watch.
The main card opener ended in unusual fashion with Chris Honeycutt getting Clayton MacFarlane flattened out in back mount then unleashing punches looking for the finish. Eventually he started dealing blows to his opponents right shoulder blade. Unconventional, but MacFarlane was pretty much spent by this stage and wasn’t making any effort to defend, so that’s where the fight ended, with less than a minute of the bout remaining.
