UFC woman’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may be a huge star in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, but it would appear that she’s got fans in the boxing world too.
Not long after boxing’s fight of the century between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao was announced promoter Bob Arum stated on camera that he’d be happy to get Rousey a free ticket to the fight, which given the demand is likely to be worth thousands of dollars.
Following on from that story, Pacquiao was then asked in an interview if he thought Rousey could beat his rival Mayweather in an MMA event, and the fighting pride of the Philippines answered in the affirmative, telling ESPN, “She’s strong. She’s strong enough to beat Floyd Mayweather in MMA.”
Now another legendary boxer, Mike Tyson has got in on the debate too. When asked if he agreed with Pacquiao’s assessment during an interview with The Huffington Post he replied, “Sh*t, Ronda Rousey might kick my ass. That 14 seconds the last fight…sh*t, man, you got to take that seriously!”
“She’s marketed herself, and not necessarily from a publicist’s perspective. She put in the work, too. She’s putting these people to bed, she’s tapping them out, she’s doing the 14-second thing.”
Tyson is already widely known to be a fan of MMA, having attended a number of UFC shows over the years and has hung out with UFC president Dana White on a number of occasions.
