Maryna Moroz had a dream debut tonight at UFC Fight Night 64, stopping Joanne Calderwood by armbar in just 90 seconds.
Round One:
Calderwood with a kick and Moroz with a counter punch to start. The two showing a willingness to exchange in the opening minute.
Overhand from Moroz. Calderwood with a nice combination. Now the Scottish fighter back to the low kick and then a push kick.
An exchange in close and it’s Moroz who’s getting the better of it with a series of punches that Calderwood has to back away from.
Calderwood against the cage now and Moroz suddenly jumps into an armbar attempt.
Calderwood looking to get out, but Moroz locks it in tight and she can’t get out. Calderwood taps – Moroz claims a big upset victory with just 1.30mins on the clock.
Big win on her debut for Moroz then that puts her on the map, while for Calderwood this is a disaster as she was looking at a potential title shot with a victory this evening and was going to play a big role in Scotland’s first UFC event in just a few months time.
