Matt Brown will now fight Tim Means at UFC 189 in Las Vegas on July 11th after his originally planned encounter with Nate Diaz fell through.
After a terrific seven fight winning streak that saw him on the verge of an unlikely title shot, Brown has lost his last two fights in a row, albeit against the top two fighters in the division at this moment in time, Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks, both of whom he took to a decision.
Still ranked No.5 in the division, Brown will now attempt to get back in the win column against Means who’s compiled a four-fight unbeaten stretch in less than a year.
Means has yet to face a ranked fighter during that period though, with his last win coming against George Sullivan.
That means this will be a huge step up in competition for him, while on the other hand it’s more of a low-key fight for Brown than he’s been used to of late.
Brown Vs Means is expected to feature on the main card of UFC 189 which will be the focal point of the UFC’s ‘International Fight Week’ in Las Vegas and is headlined by two title fights as featherweight champ Jose Aldo takes on Conor McGregor in one of the biggest fights of the year, while welterweight title holder Robbie Lawler heads into a rematch with Rory MacDonald.
