Joe Lauzon and Takanori Gomi have been booked for a spot on the UFC On FOX 16 fight card in Chicago on July 25th.
Lauzon came off second best against Al Iaquinta last time out, losing by a second round TKO back in January at UFC 183. Prior to that he had compiled back-to-back wins against former TUF winners Mac Danzig and Michael Chiesa.
Gomi is also coming off a loss to what was at the time one of the division’s in-form fighters, Myles Jury, at a UFC Fight Night show in his native Japan back in September of last year.
Prior to that the 36 year-old had gone on a 3-1 run in the lightweight division with wins over Eiji Misouka, Mac Danzig and Isaac Vallie-Flagg together with a split decision loss to Diego Sanchez.
UFC On FOX 16 already has a strong line-up with a bantamweight title fight rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao headlining, with Anthony Pettis Vs Myles Jury in the co-main event and Miesha Tate Vs Jessica Eye also certain to feature on the four-fight main card.
It’s not clear if the fourth fight on the card is set in stone yet though, with Lauzon Vs Gomi a possibility, though Danny Castillo Vs Rustam Khabilov and Erik Koch Vs Ramsey Nijem are also very much in the running too.
