A top 10 light-heavyweight contender bout between Ovince St.Preux and Glover Teixeira has been announced as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 74 in Nashville on August 8th.
That’s home soil for OSP who’s coming off back-to-back first rounds wins in the Octagon, TKO’ing Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua in November of last year followed by a KO win against Patrick Cummins in April on FOX.
in total OSP has won six of his seven bouts in the UFC to date and that’s left him placed at No.7 in the divisional rankings.
Teixeira is just one rung above him at No.6 on the light-heavyweight ladder, though his recent record actually isn’t as good as he’s coming off two losses in a row.
The Brazilian was unsuccessful in a title challenge against Jon Jones last year, losing out by decision and then suffering a decisive loss on the scorecards against Phil Davis after that.
To add to his woes Teixeira then suffered a knee injury and so he hasn’t been back in the Octagon since October of last year.
When he does return he’ll be hoping to rediscover the form that saw him going undefeated in 20 fights, five of those in the UFC against the likes of Ryan Bader and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’.
