After watching Dan Henderson getting back in the win column with a KO victory against Tim Boetsch at the weekend, Tim Kennedy has no doubts about who he would like to fight next.
“Hey @danhendo CONGRATS on your win,” Kennedy wrote to Henderson on Twitter. “Enjoy the rest. Lets talk to @danawhite about doing a Fight For The Troops card and putting on a show.”
It’s certainly a match-up that would be beneficial to both men as Kennedy is on the hunt for marquee opponents at this stage in his career, while at the age of 44, ‘Hendo’ has indicated he isn’t ready to hang up his gloves just yet and still has aspirations to get back amongst the division’s top competitors.
However, it remains to be seen if that’s what the UFC has in mind for these two and as things stand they haven’t mentioned doing another ‘Fight For The Troops’ event any time soon.
Kennedy hasn’t been in the Octagon since a somewhat controversial TKO loss to Yoel Romero in September of last year and appeared to be disillusioned with the sport afterwards. He also voiced his disapproval when the details of the UFC’s sponsorship deal with Reebok became public recently, but on the other hand, last week he gave a big thumbs up to the news that the promotion would be clamping down on PED users with a rigorous new drug testing policy.
