TUF 21 Finale Bonus Awards

Following last night’s TUF 21 Finale event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

On this occasion the UFC opted to overlook a ‘Fight Of The Night’ award in favor of four ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses.

Naturally, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson scooped up one of those awards for his stand-out striking performance in the main event of the evening against Jake Ellenberger. He managed to drop Ellenberger not once, but twice with spinning hook kicks to the face, with the second one sealing the first round KO stoppage and extending his unbeaten run to five fights.

Co-main event winner Kamaru Usman also claimed a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he controlled his fight with Hayder Hassan before sinking in an arm triangle choke for the submission finish, handing his TUF 21 team, The Blackzilians victory overall.

Jorge Masvidal was also on the awards list in his welterweight debut as he endured a slow start against Cezar ‘Mutante’ Ferreira, but then rang his bell with a couple of big elbow from the thai clinch and then followed him to the mat with punches to earn the knockout win.

Finally, Josh Samman pocketed an extra $50,000 for he tapped his high-level BJJ opponent Ciao Magalhaes with a rear-naked choke midway through the first round, prompting an angry reaction from the Brazilian who spat blood at him instead of shaking hands.
