Following last night’s UFC 193 event in Australia the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Winning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the jaw-dropping main event between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey, a 6 minute fight that will go down in UFC history and produced one of the biggest upsets of all time as Rousey’s dominant run as champion came to an abrupt end early in the second round courtesy of a head kick from Holm that knocked her out cold.
Holm’s win was also undoubtedly the ‘Performance Of The Night’, meaning she earned $100,000 extra in bonus money on the night. This was a remarkable display of mixed martial arts as Holm not only completely dominated Rousey on the feet from start to finish with superior striking and movement, but also survived being taken down at one one point and even took down the champion herself before wisely getting back to her feet. The finish – delivering a punch that rocked Rousey before rendering her unconscious with a perfectly placed head kick will now surely become one of the most memorable highlight-reel moments ever in the sport.
Also earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was Kyle Noke who left Peter Sobotta shouting out in agony mid-way through the first round after a hard front kick to the body crumpled him to the mat in a heap, before sealing the deal with a TKO finish.
