The much hyped ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt will be making a quick return to the Octagon to face Andre Holbrook at UFC On FOX 18 on January 30th in New Jersey.
The undefeated 19 year-old Northcutt had expressed an eagerness to get back into the Octagon again as soon as possible following two wins in the space of three months, TKO’ing Francisco Trevino in just 57 seconds at UFC 192 in October, then submitting Cody Pfister early in the second round at UFC Fight Night 80 earlier this month.
Northcutt’s wish has been granted and he’ll now be facing another up and coming lightweight star in Holbrook who earned a split decision win over Ramsey Nijem in his debut in July and holds a perfect 11-0 record in his career to date.
Northcutt has impressive skills for such a young fighter, particularly in the striking realm, though he’s also proved to be a competent wrestler too in his seven fight career so far.
However, weaknesses in his ground game were exposed in his last fight with Pfister, particularly from his back, and so that’ll make this next fight interesting as Holbrook offers a real threat from submissions, accounting for seven of his 11 wins to date.
UFC On FOX 18 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight fight between Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader. At this stage it’s unclear where Northcutt Vs Holbrook will be placed on the fight card.
