Rizin FF 1 Results (Day 2)

The second day of Rizin FF 1 has just finished and you can see all the results below.

In the fight that everybody wanted to see Fedor Emelianenko made a successful return from retirement against JaiDeep Singh, marauding forward with powerful strikes in the early stages of the fight before clinching up and taking his opponent to the mat. From there Fedor was very much in control, moving to full mount and eventually delivered a TKO stoppage via ground and pound.

So, an easy win for Fedor and he looked very much like his old self, but hopefully if he decides to keep on fighting we’ll see him against a much higher level of opposition next time around.

The other major action on show was the final rounds of the heavyweight grand-prix and Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal booked his spot in the final early on the card with a mixture of striking and wrestling leading him to a unanimous decision win over Teodoras Aukstuolis.

Joining him in the final was Jiri Prochazka who’d defeated Vadim Nemkov following the end of the first round when his opponent was left unable to continue after being rocked with strikes.

The final capped off the evening’s action and it was ‘King Mo’ who won in definitive fashion, sending Prochazka face first to the canvas after meeting him with a huge right hook as his opponent pressed forward with his hands down.

So, Lawal is crowned the grand prix champion and wins $300,000 in prize money into the bargain.

Earlier in the evening Kron Gracie made a successful start to his MMA career with a first round triangle choke submission against Asen Yamamoto in a fight that was entertaining for as long as it lasted.

Gabi Garcia also emerged victorious in her first ever MMA fight against Lei’d Tapa, though it wasn’t pretty to watch. A BJJ practitioner known for her imposing size, Garcia’s striking left a lot to be desired and her much smaller opponent actually staggered her early in the match-up with a hook that sent her reeling across the ring into the ropes. Later in the round during a flailing exchange Garcia caught Tapa with a backfist which dropped her, then followed up with ground and pound for the TKO finish.
