UFC hall-of-famer Chuck Liddell addressed his recent beef with Jon Jones during an interview on the latest edition of Inside MMA on Friday.
The spat between the two superstars started when Liddell claimed in an interview that in his prime he would have knocked out Jones in the Octagon.
Jones responded with some jabs at the former champion on social media, stating that, “Maybe he should’ve fought smarter and saved some chin,” while claiming that Chuck Norris would be a tougher fight for him at this point.
The two then came face-to-face at the recent UFC 196 event, and Liddell was keen to address the situation.
“If you want to talk trash about me on the Internet, you might want to tag me so I can respond, instead of just talking trash behind my back,” Liddell recalled of their conversation during his interview on Inside MMA. “Not that I really care, because it’s the Internet. It’s social media. People talk trash all over the place.
“Dude, you have my phone number. If you ever see an interview and you’re worried about it, call me and we’ll talk it out. If we have a problem, trust me. If I have a problem with you, you won’t have to look for me. I’ll show up.”
Liddell went on to reveal that when Dana White saw the two speaking at the event he rushed in, thinking that a fight was about to break out between them.
The 46 year-old Liddell says that White should have known him better – if he was going to get into a fight with Jones then it would have already kicked off by that stage.
“If I have a problem with you and we’re gonna get there, I’m just gonna hit you,” Liddell said. “I don’t do that anymore, nothing can happen, but I’m not gonna sit there and get in your face at an event and do this bro-ing up and pushing each other. A fight would just happen.”
