UFC On FOX 19 has suffered a blow with Tony Ferguson suffering an injury that has forced him out of his headlining fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 16th.
“Usually I can Power thru small Bumps & Bruises,” Ferguson said of his withdrawal from the event. “Doc Said I have Fluid/Blood in my Lung #UFCTampa I Will Heal Up. I Will be Back.”
With less than two weeks left to find a new opponent for Nurmagomedov for the FOX show, the UFC have decided to change things up, with the previously scheduled co-main event pairing of Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira now topping the bill.
As things stand Dan Henderson Vs Lyoto Machida would then also be bumped up to the co-main event spot, but that’s not set in stone if the UFC were able to unearth a suitable replacement to fight the undefeated Nurmagomedov, who’s returning after a two year injury layoff.
Speaking of suitable opponents, Donald Cerrone appeared to throw his cowboy hat into the ring with the brief comment, “I know a guy,” on Twitter in reference to the UFC’s search for a new opponent.
However, current lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is doing his best to lure Nurmagomedov away from the UFC On FOX 19 card, informing the UFC that he has “unfinished business” with him that could be settled at UFC 200 in July instead.
That being said, it seems that ‘The Eagle’ has his heart set on fighting this month, regardless of who his opponent ends up being.
“Pettis, Cowboy, RDA or somebody, anyone and any weight,” Nurmagomedov wrote on Twitter. “16 April I’m waiting for you guys.”
