Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson will finally get back into the cage with a headlining fight against Satoshi Ishii at Bellator: Dynamite 2 on June 24th in St. Louis.
By the time he steps into the cage it’ll have been 14th months since ‘Rampage’ last fought due to a messy contract dispute with the Bellator organization.
In December of 2014, ‘Rampage’ tried to jump ship from Bellator and go back to the UFC, claiming that they hadn’t honored his contract. He was then temporarily granted permission to fight in the Octagon, earning a unanimous decision victory over Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 in April of last year, but after that Bellator were able to legally prevent him from doing so again.
After a lengthy legal stand-off, ‘Rampage’ and Bellator came to an ‘amicable agreement’ in February and he signed a new deal with the promotion.
That’s paved the way for this fight with Ishii, a former Olympic judo gold medalist who will be fighting in the U.S for the first time in his career at the event.
Ishii is coming off a KO loss to Jiri Prochazka at the first ever Rizin event last December, but does hold an overall 14-5-1 career record.
No other bouts have so far been announced for Bellator: Dynamite 2 (aka Bellator 157) which will again feature a mix of MMA and kickboxing bouts
