A heavyweight slug-fest between Roy Nelson and Derrick Lewis has been booked for UFC Fight Night 90 on July 7th in Las Vegas.
Lewis had called for a fight with Nelson after notching up his third victory in a row at UFC Fight Night 86 earlier this month which saw him knock out Gabriel Gonzaga in the first round.
The heavy-handed 31 year-old had previously TKO’d Viktor Pesta and Damian Grabowski, and is now 6-2 for his UFC run to date, with all six of his wins coming by way of stoppage due to strikes.
Nelson has a similar love for throwing down on the feet, and he’s coming off a unanimous decision victory against Jared Rosholt back in February at UFC Fight Night 82.
The 39 year-old ‘Big Country’ having lost three in a row prior to that, and having gone just 2-5 in the past three years.
Nelson Vs Lewis joins a UFC Fight Night 90 card that’s already set to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez.
The show will air live exclusively on the UFC’s ‘Fight Pass’ service on a Thursday night as the first in a three-night series of events hosted by the promotion in Las Vegas during ‘International Fight Week’ that will culiminate with the historic UFC 200 event.
