Former lightweight title contender Gray Maynard will make his featherweight debut against Fernando Bruno at the TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas on Friday, July 8th.
It’s been a rough road these past few years for ‘The Bully’ since his two unsuccessful attempts to dislodge Frankie Edgar from the top of the lightweight division back in 2011.
Since then, Maynard has won just once, and is currently in the midst of a four-fight losing streak, with three of those defeats coming by way of TKO.
Now 37 years-old, Maynard is hoping to reboot his career by dropping down to the featherweight division, and he’ll also be taking a step down in competition too, with Bruno being 0-1 in his UFC run so far, though the Brazilian does hold an overall 15-3 record.
Maynard Vs Bruno joins a TUF 23 Finale fight card that is set to be headlined by a female strawweight title fight between season coaches Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha, while Ross Pearson also fights James Krause on the card.
The TUF 23 Finale will be sandwiched in the middle of three UFC events in three nights, beginning with UFC Fight Night 90 on the Thursday night and culminating with the historic UFC 200 event on the Saturday night.
