A major lightweight fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson is reported to have been targeted for The Ultimate Fighter Latin Amercia 3 Finale, which will take place in Mexico on November 5th.
Dos Anjos recently lost his lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90 by TKO in the first round, just two days before UFC 200.
That was a big shock for RDA, who had been in dominant form leading up to that fight, taking out the likes of Ben Henderson and Nate Diaz, before seizing the title from Anthony Pettis and then successfully defending it against Donald Cerrone.
In fact, the Brazilian had won 10 of his last 11 fights in the Octagon heading into that title defense, with his only loss coming against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Now he has to work his way back into title contention against one of the division’s most in-form fighters, Ferguson, who is riding no less than an eight fight winning streak.
Along the way Ferguson has defeated the likes of Gleison Tibau, Josh Thomson and Edson Barboza, with his last win coming against late replacement Landon Vannata, who actually gave him a surprisingly tough test before being tapped out by a second round d’arce choke submission.
