UFC Middleweight champion Michael Bisping has called out Georges St-Pierre for a fight at UFC 206 in Canada in December, despite the fact he already has a fight booked.
Bisping is currently scheduled to defend his belt for the first time against his old rival Dan Henderson at UFC 204 in Manchester, England on October 8th, but the outspoken Brit reckons he could also fight the former long-time welterweight champion as well before the end of the year.
“Quit being a p**sy Georges,” Bisping said in an interview with The Daily Star. “I officially challenge Georges St-Pierre to a fight in Toronto in December. I’ll fight him at 180lbs. Right here, right now, I challenge him.”
“I would love to fight Georges St-Pierre in December in Toronto. I fight in October, I could make it in December. That’s two months. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.”
‘The Count’ is looking to cap off what’s so far been a remarkably successful year in his career, initially defeating Anderson Silva by unanimous decision in the UK back in March, and then producing a shock first round TKO win over Luke Rockhold on short notice to claim the title.
If Bisping was then able to avenge his infamous loss to ‘Hendo’ at UFC 204 next month you’d think that would be a perfect way to end the year, but the fact that he then wants to go on to fight one of the greatest of all time has to be admired.
It’d be easy to just sit back and milk the fact that he’s the champion for as long as possible, but even at 37 years of age his urge to fight and prove himself against the best burns as brightly as ever.
it remains to be seen if GSP will be so eager to fight though. In an interview with ‘UFC Tonight’ earlier this week Bisping’s name was absent from the list of fighters the Canadian superstar talked about, instead indicating a desire to fight the likes of Tyron Woodley, Nick Diaz or Demian Maia.
