Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 93 event in Germany the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors on this occasion was the gruelling main event battle between Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski.
Both men had their legs buckled in the early stages of the opening round as fists flew with reckless abandon, but as the fight progressed Barnett gradually started to dictate the action with clinch work and then wrestling.
In the third round Barnett suffered an eye poke and turned his back to Arlovski, but the referee didn’t see it he had to fight on, and soon after was able to take down his tiring opponent and tap him out with a rear-naked choke.
As it happens, Josh Barnett also earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus for his rear-naked choke finish of Arlovski in the main event, on a night where the vast majority of fights would go to the judges scorecards.
Also scooping up of a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was Ryan Bader Who landed a perfectly timed knee as Ilir Latifi ducked in for a takedown, knocking him out instantly mid-way through the second of their main card encounter.
