Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 94 event in Texas the recipients of the evenings $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main card battle between Evan Dunham and Rick Glenn, a spirited scrap with the late replacement newcomer doing his best to hang with Dunham for the full 15 minutes.
That proved to be challenging, particularly in the final five minutes as Dunham threw everything but the kitchen sink at Glenn, including a few head kicks that hit the mark, but he kept standing his ground until the final bell.
Main event winner Michael Johnson earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after digging himself out of a two-fight losing slump in style, while simultaneously bringing an abrupt end to Dustin Poirier’s four fight winning streak.
A right hook followed by a left hand behind it floored Poirier, and he followed up by dropping down with another hurtful blow, before sealing the first round KO victory with more ground and pound.
Earlier in the evening Chas Skelly had guaranteed he’d be earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award when he charged at Maximo Blanco at the opening bell with a leaping kick to the body that knocked his opponent off-balance, then in the ensuing scramble on the mat seized on an anaconda choke submission that sent Blanco to sleep just 19 seconds into the fight!
